Once you have made a payment on any level through this website, you will be sent to your unique log-in screen securely linked to your purchase, to create a username and password to access a membership only site. From there you will have privately secured download links for the Language Hacking Guide, and access to all Speak from day 1 videos. You can download them immediately, or log in any time later. All free updates will be presented in the same membership site.
You can either watch the videos embedded on the membership site immediately, or download the original HD quality MP4 video file to transfer to your iPad, iPhone, Android or other portable device, or computer. All videos have been professionally edited with graphics to help convey the points I explain.
At the moment there are eight videos in the Speak from day 1 series. Your payment is not actually for just these 8 videos, but for these and all upcoming updates. Every few months I will add more videos, to make sure I demonstrate everything I can, to help people to start using a language immediately.
The Speak from Day One course is about what the title suggests – speaking a language from Day One, and getting around the most obvious setbacks preventing you from doing this. However, to move on from this, you will also have access to the Language Hacking Guide, which explains in much greater detail how to apply the points in the video and how to go well beyond that to work towards speaking the language very well.
Contents of the Language Hacking Guide include:
* Note that these translations are NOT included in the cheaper English-only version. However, everything else you see listed here, including the video course, is.
The Language Hacking Guide coupled with the Speak from Day One video course, explains exactly what you need to do to speak a language quickly. Rather than read through the guide and watch all the videos to find out my one major ‘secret’, I can tell you right now: you need to speak the language immediately.
No years of studying grammar, no expensive and complicated software, no “magic pill” to master a language while you sleep, you just need to speak it. Speak it regularly, speak it confidently, and speak it immediately. The more you speak, the quicker you will improve.
Even though this may be obvious, how you actually speak a language that you have just started to learn seems almost impossible to many people. So they’ll wait until they are “ready”. That wait may be years, or they may simply never even try.
But it’s not actually that hard! That’s what the Language Hacking Guide is about.
Neither the Language Hacking Guide nor the Speak from day 1 video series is a course to learn any particular language. Each is my explanation of how I apply what is known as the “communicative” learning approach to languages (i.e. using it naturally by speaking it, rather than an approach focused entirely on studying it in an academic environment). Everything I discuss are the most important techniques I have learned in the last decade of using languages in immersion environments, both in-country AND without needing to travel.
If you just want to buy a course, then the packages offered on this site will not help you. Honestly, nearly all courses basically offer the same content and I find that an inexpensive book (such as the “Teach yourself” series, or a Lonely Planet phrasebook) offers just as much, or even more value than pre-packaged software courses that cost hundreds of dollars. The cheaper books are way better to provide the content to fill your language with.
However, actually getting used to the idea of speaking a language (issues such as lack of confidence, or how to get by when you don’t know the right word etc.) is never covered in any of these courses, including in-person classroom or in-country courses that cost thousands of dollars. What is offered in the Language Hacking Guide and Speak from Day 1 packages is not explained anywhere else in the world that I am aware of.
If you are confused about how you can possibly begin to really use your target language (no matter what it may be), then this may be for you!
One important aspect I encourage people to try when learning a language, is to force themselves to use it immediately. With this in mind, I’ve made it possible for you to attempt to read the entire contents of the Language Hacking Guide in your target language without even needing to get a dictionary!
All you need to do is have both versions open while reading and if you have trouble understanding a particular word or sentence, compare it to the English (or other) to fully understand. You can ALSO have just the target language book open, while you are listening to the English audiobook. All translators (natives) were under instructions to translate naturally and convey the sense of what was being said, rather than be too direct in translating. In this way it reads naturally entirely in that language.
Because of this, the guide can also be read by those who are not native English speakers, who may want to learn a foreign language. If English is not your first language, please click the appropriate flag below to see full details of the contents of the Language Hacking Guide explained to you in your language:

If you are learning that language, maybe click the flag anyway to see how much you can understand!
You will also see the work the translator went to, to translate just the information page! Each of the 22 translators gave an incredible amount of time to help present the full contents of the book in their language, and every single version was proofread by a second native (even the Irish (Gaeilge) one!) to ensure absolute best quality.
If you are not interested in this option, then you will get exactly the same information from the English-only version of the guide. The only thing missing will be the translations.
Yes! After receiving many emails from previously selling the Language Hacking Guide from iPad owners who were frustrated because they could not immediately access the contents of the zip file, I have prioritized making access to files easier for iPad users. Direct downloads to certain files are offered, as well as the original zip file to download to a computer.
The videos are embedded on the website using a private video hosting system that selects either Flash or HTML5 to display the video, in order to ensure that all systems are supported.
If you are skeptical that learning a language quickly is possible, or that I have personally done so, or maybe believe instead that I have some “language gene” from birth that only allows me to do this and not others, then I recommend you spend some time reading posts on my blog Fluent in 3 months (over 300,000 readers/month – I am currently attempting to learn Mandarin in 3 months) and watching my videos online, such as my TEDx talk. You will quickly see that I am genuinely passionate about using languages and experiencing new cultures, and am very open about how much progress I am making and how I do it. (Although the blog is an unorganised place to discover all my best tips, which is why I created these packages).
Rather than promise fluency in exactly 3 months (since everyone learns at a different pace and with different levels of passionate investment), on my blog I am actually simply sharing my language learning missions and demonstrating techniques discussed in the Language Hacking Guide. One such technique is to be public about your language learning mission by blogging about it for some accountability, and to be specific about a deadline and end-goal (hence the ambitious blog title; a target, rather than a promise).
Sales from these products help me to focus on learning a language and writing blog posts for free to inspire hundreds of thousands of others to do the same thing. My goal is not that everyone in the world buys my products, but that everyone realizes that taking on a second language is very much possible. If they realize that from reading a free blog post, I am just as happy as I would be if they did it from purchasing one of my digital products.
If you are thinking about investing in your target language, then consider what I’m offering on this page. You will get great value for your investment, as well as supporting me to write regular blog posts and creating new videos to inspire other language learners who perhaps can’t make that investment.
A language does not take “years” to learn before you can attempt to speak it – this is a falsity reinforced by inefficient academic learning systems. Whether you purchase anything on this page or not, get out there and speak your target language, away from classrooms and dusty old books; it’s the only way you will ever improve on it! And if you’d like some help and inspiration to do that, just click the links below!
